Yageo: Soft termination MLCC offering high resistance to mechanical and thermal stress
Yageo introduces the new soft termination capacitors to address the industry-wide issue of cracks caused by thermal shock and mechanical stress. This is especially important in power supplies and on battery lines where a short-circuit failure cannot be tolerated.
The new soft termination capacitors significantly improve the issue of ceramic cracking which can lead to low insulation and short circuit failures. It is designed with conductive polymer-Ag that contains a metal material layer which provides elasticity in the terminations, and effectively absorbs mechanical stress, thus improving the ability to resist cracking and overall product reliability.
The new X7R series soft termination capacitors are offered in case sizes from 0402 to 1206. These are targeted for use in high flexure stress circuit boards, applications on switching power supplies, and telecom base stations. These high performance soft termination capacitors feature a flexible termination system, which is lead-free, RoHS compliant, and offer improved thermal and mechanical robustness. This offers customers a wider variety of choices and solutions in order to meet various application demands and requirements.
