FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ARROW ELECTRONICS NAMED EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR BY GARTNER GROUP'S DATAQUEST
MELVILLE, NEW YORK, July 7, 1998 -- Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) has been named European
Distributor of the Year by Dataquest, the research division of the Gartner Group, a global IT consulting firm.
The award was presented at the Gartner Group's 1998 European Semiconductor Vendor of the Year Awards in London. Awards
were given in five other categories.
"We're honored to receive this award from our customers," said Arrow Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen P. Kaufman.
"Our goal is to become easier to do business with, and this award indicates that we are moving in the right direction."
The award was based on an extensive survey, conducted by Dataquest, which polled leading purchasers of semiconductors throughout
Europe during April and May of this year. The companies polled represent 43 percent of the entire European semiconductor market.
Survey respondents rated semiconductor vendors on delivery, quality, responsiveness, technical support, price, supplier flexibility,
and overall performance.
